Aleksei Istomin, Head of Development, Zooprotein
Aleksei Istomin is the head of development at Zooprotein.
Zooprotein recycles organic agricultural waste using fly maggots to attain protein feeds for animals, birds and fish.
It is a resident project of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
Originally from Minsk, Aleksei graduated the Belarus State Economic University with a master’s degree in international business economics.
Before joining Zooprotein, he worked for six years for Google’s vendor partner in Moscow, Sellbytell Communications, as the head of the Google Adwords Advertising Department.
Aleksei later received an invitation from his father, Igor Istomin, the CEO of Zooprotein, to join the company as the head of development. During his time there, he has become well educated in topics at the intersection of agriculture, biotechnology, waste management, and animal-feeding technology. Today, he is considered one of Russia’s most prominent experts in the insects industry.
Aleksei also has significant experience launching innovative agriculture and technology projects at Skolkovo.
